Large numbers of visitors are heading home one after another, and the crowds at major attractions are slowly thinning—a golden window for a trip. Just as the crisp, refreshing autumn weather sets in, Tianzhushan enters its most comfortable hiking season of the year. On October 6 the weather at Tianzhushan is fine and the temperature pleasantly mild, ranging from 11°C to 23°C, with gentle breezes—completely free of midsummer heat and late-autumn chill. Conditions for hiking are superb.

With the jostling crowds gone, autumn reveals Tianzhushan's original elegance and grandeur. The clear blue sky is free of clouds, maple leaves across the hills turn red one after another, and layered forests glow with color. Together with the countless fantastical rocks and peaks, every step brings a new scene—a soothing autumn mountain tableau at every turn.

Seize the tail end of the National Day holiday and head to Tianzhushan off-peak. No rushing, no crowding—simply savor autumn at a leisurely pace. It is absolutely the most pleasant choice for this holiday.

Three Tailored Routes to Suit Every Traveler

We've put together three distinct routes. Whether you're enjoying an easy outing with kids, a laid-back leisure trip, or outdoor hiking and deep exploration, you'll find something that suits you and makes exploring Tianzhushan a breeze.

03

This route suits outdoor lovers who enjoy hiking and in-depth exploration. Linking the core scenery of the entire Tianzhushan range, it unlocks the hidden realm of the wilds in one go and lets you feel the grand character of a famous mountain immersively. It takes in walkways, jagged peaks, secluded springs and seas of clouds, and with few people and quiet scenery, every step on the hike is a surprise. It combines immersive outdoor exercise with a full panorama of Tianzhushan—a truly deep and restorative journey.

After feasting your eyes on the autumn wilds, when night falls head to Qianshan's town center to unlock a relaxed nightlife. As the holiday winds down, foot traffic in town drops sharply, so accommodation and dining experiences improve greatly and offer excellent value. Once you've had your fill of mountain scenery, be sure to taste authentic Qianshan flavors: rich and savory old hen soup with puffed rice, light and nourishing stone-ear mushroom old hen soup, stir-fried pork slices with wild caomao mushrooms, tender sweet-potato balls braised with pork, and the specialty chao zi pi (stir-fried bean sheets)… every dish brims with rustic local flavor, warming both stomach and heart.

After the meal, stroll through the Xuehu Li Historical and Cultural District and head straight to the Xuehu Pier for a beautiful waterside live performance—Lakebound Dreams: Xiao Qiao's Wedding. This immersive nighttime water show is steeped in classic Chinese style and adds a touch of poetic romance to your trip. Show times: two performances nightly, 19:00–20:00 and 20:30–21:30—arrange as your itinerary allows.

By day, tour Tianzhu and admire the autumn mountains; by night, cruise Xuehu and savor its refinement. No rushing, no crowds—just ease and comfort. This is the most complete way to spend the National Day holiday. The holiday still has days left, and the beauty doesn't end. Seize the last of your holiday time, head to Tianzhushan off-peak, and enjoy a rendezvous amid autumn mountains—living up to the scenery and to your holiday!
