Affected by Typhoon Baihaitun, the area was hit by fierce winds and heavy rain, and the extreme weather posed major challenges to the safe operation of cableway equipment. To effectively prevent equipment failures and safety hazards caused by severe wind and rain, the Cableway Operations Center immediately activated its emergency response plan for flood control and typhoon prevention, made scientific staffing arrangements, and assigned maintenance personnel to special duty shifts, taking multiple measures to safeguard the cableway’s production safety line.

Training in advance

Before the typhoon arrived, the center focused on the risks of operating in extreme weather and organized special safety training in advance for on-duty personnel. Practical instruction was carried out on key topics including identifying equipment safety risks during typhoon conditions, priorities in hazard inspection and rectification, and equipment operating procedures in severe weather.

Through this targeted training, the center further strengthened duty personnel’s ability to anticipate risks, standardized emergency inspection and hazard-handling procedures, and ensured that on-duty staff were fully familiar with the essentials of working in extreme weather, using professional competence to protect equipment safety.

Remaining at post

After the typhoon warning was upgraded, the center arranged duty staff in a scientific and orderly manner. On-duty mechanical maintenance personnel remained at their posts and performed their respective responsibilities, strictly implementing the inspection and duty system for typhoon weather, and carrying out targeted safety checks on equipment, station buildings, and the surrounding environment to firmly safeguard the bottom line of safe operations.

Fine-grained inspections

In view of the heavy equipment load and the hidden nature of risks during typhoon conditions, on-duty personnel carried out full-coverage, meticulous hazard inspections. They focused on verifying the operating parameters of core electrical equipment such as power distribution cabinets and control boxes, checking the temperature of line terminals, and identifying problems such as dampness, looseness, and other abnormalities.

At the same time, they promptly cleared debris on site, unblocked drainage channels, and inspected and reinforced exposed facilities, dealing efficiently with all kinds of potential risks and ensuring that hazards were discovered early, eliminated early, and left with no blind spots.

Safety in storm

While wind and rain raged outside, safety protection never stopped. On-duty personnel continued to increase the frequency of inspections, dynamically track equipment operating conditions, repeatedly verify all safety parameters, and remain fully prepared at any time to respond to emergencies.

At present, the cableway equipment is operating steadily overall, and no safety incidents have been reported on site. Going forward, the Cableway Operations Center will continue to strengthen on-duty inspection and safety control during typhoon weather and will do everything possible to ensure the safe and stable operation of the cableway with professional skills, a rigorous attitude, and steadfast dedication.
