About

“The single peak of Tianzhu holds up the sun and moon; its cave gate, a thousand fathoms high, locks in cloud and thunder.”

These lines were written by the great Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi in praise of Tianzhu Peak, the main peak of Tianzhushan. Tianzhushan is also known as “Wanshan.” It was once the fief of the ancient State of Wan during the Spring and Autumn Period, and the abbreviation “Wan” for today’s Anhui Province originates from this name.
