2026-10-08If the crowds put you off, don't be disappointed.
After the holiday, Xuehu is cool on an autumn night, the lake breeze gentle—fewer people, lovelier views, richer drama.
Xiao Qiao is still here, Zhou Yu is still here, and that romance spanning a thousand years awaits your entrance.

I. Cruise Off-Peak for an Upgraded Experience
The National Day crowds are gone.
Now is when Xuehu becomes the choice of those in the know:
• No queues at the ticket check—boarding is far more leisurely
• Open views from the boat—no need to fight for a camera angle
• Crisp autumn-night lake breezes and clearer, more luminous light and shadow
• Ideal for couple's dates, family outings with kids, girls' trips, or a slow ramble with parents
In a word: at National Day you watch the excitement; after the holiday you appreciate the craft.
II. The Same Show, Undiminished Romance

Lakebound Dreams: Xiao Qiao's Wedding turns the whole of Xuehu into a natural theatre.
With distant mountains and an ancient pagoda as the backdrop, floating stages, flower boats on the water and a ring of light-and-shadow corridors unfold in layers. Guests cruise along with the boat, following the story as it flows—you are not a bystander but a character within the tale of the Three Kingdoms.
Six acts spread out around the lake:
'Reflections Tracing a Bygone Radiance,' 'The Youth of Jiangdong,' 'Meeting a Kindred Spirit on the Waters of Anhui,' 'Warm Fireworks Among the Living,' 'When the Wind Rises at Grass-Tip's End,' 'Red Cliffs Ablaze with Beacon Fire.'
From a lakeside pledge of love to standing together amid the flames of war, the plot surges and the tenderness flows like water.
Lu Ang, chief director and Dean of the Directing Department at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, says: 'The lively, graceful waters of Xuehu carry the thousand-year legend of romance between Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao. We take the classic scene of Xiao Qiao's wedding as our core and adopt a nighttime boat-cruise viewing format to bring static cultural heritage to life.'
The creative team steps away from the usual Three Kingdoms narrative of power plays and battles, carving a new path by rebuilding the epic through a woman's perspective and finely portraying Xiao Qiao's growth and awakening amid turbulent times. The music uses 'youth Huangmei opera' as an innovative vehicle, its singing balancing traditional charm with modern aesthetics, lending an old opera a breath of fresh youthfulness.
III. Climb Tianzhu by Day, Cruise Xuehu by Night

The off-peak post-holiday perk continues (subject to the official ticketing platform):
Buy a full-price ticket to Lakebound Dreams: Xiao Qiao's Wedding at 198 yuan per person and receive a main-gate ticket to Tianzhushan Scenic Area.
Qianshan residents may buy a local-resident ticket at 98 yuan per person with their own ID card.
By day, climb Tianzhushan—gaze up at a single pillar holding up the sky, stroll the Hundred-step Ladder, and explore Mystery Valley; by night, cruise Xuehu and dream your way back to the Three Kingdoms amid light, shadow and opera.
Within a single day, you have both the mountains and waters and the story.
