People often say that the essence of Tianzhushan lies in the East Gate Route. This newly opened trail brings together cliffside walkways, extraordinary peaks, unusual rocks, and cloud-top landscapes. It combines thrilling adventure with restorative scenery, while offering fewer crowds and exceptional views.

It is a hidden-gem route for hiking, cloud-sea views, and cinematic photos—and even first-time visitors can enjoy it with ease.

Five Highlights

Glass Walkway

A cliffside walk above the clouds

The Glass Walkway is the signature photo spot of the East Gate Route. Stretching 231 meters, the high-altitude glass path is suspended above a 500-meter cliff and connects with the 1,352-meter East Gate Suspended Walkway.

Transparent glass lies beneath your feet, while layered mountains, deep valleys, and seas of clouds unfold below. Every step feels like walking through the sky, offering a thrilling yet restorative perspective over the landscape. It is perfect for capturing dramatic high-altitude travel photos.

Tianshi Peak

A landmark of mountain grandeur

At an elevation of 1,186 meters, Tianshi Peak is a signature formation of Tianzhushan’s East Gate Route. Its layered rock faces and rugged slopes resemble a proud lion raising its head and resting among the mountains.

Together with the surrounding peaks, it creates the remarkable natural scene known as “Two Lions Playing with a Ball.” From the summit, visitors can overlook the entire East Gate Route, with endless ranges and deep ravines displaying the bold character of Tianzhushan.

Great Heavenly Gate

A majestic mountain pass and gateway to the East Gate

Formed by the opposing peaks of Tianshi Peak and Fupen Peak, this natural gorge entrance is one of the most impressive check-in points on the East Gate Route.

Narrow, steep stone steps rise toward the sky, while towering rock walls form a dramatic V-shaped pass. It resembles a gateway leading directly into the sea of clouds. As you walk through, mountain winds rush through the gorge, creating the imposing atmosphere of a fortress pass that one person could defend against many.

Magpie Bridge

A romantic bridge suspended above the clouds

Known as one of Tianzhushan’s most extraordinary natural wonders, Magpie Bridge is also the most romantic scenic feature on the East Gate Route.

Massive rocks lean across the gorge to form a natural suspended stone bridge. One side clings to the cliff, while the other overlooks a deep abyss. When mist surrounds the mountains, the bridge appears to float within the sea of clouds, as if connecting the human world with a realm of immortals.

Every step is poetic, making it an ideal photography location.

Snail Rock

A lively natural rock formation

Snail Rock is a distinctive pictographic formation along the East Gate Route. Resembling a snail clinging to the cliff face, it is remarkably vivid and lifelike.

Located near the viewing platform at the end of the walkway, it has been sculpted by wind and rain over hundreds of millions of years. Visitors can pause here to rest, enjoy the scenery, and look out over the valleys while appreciating Tianzhushan’s distinctive granite landforms.
